Tie-dye Fun!

Hey all I'm going to share with you something Miss Mel and I absolutely love to do every summer, tie-dye! We try and do it at least once every year because we always find fun new things that would look beyond cool tie-dyed. I feel like you always start off with the traditional white T-shirt but after that it's time to get creative! We have dyed sweaters, over-sized tees, socks and even boxers! Well this time I decided to dye a sports bra and a male's undershirt, like I said you have to do the traditional white T-shirt.

Supplies you'll need:
Something white to be dyed
Tie-dying kit
Gloves (if your kit doesn't include enough for the group)
Plastic bags

1. The first step is to fold your "something white" in the shape you want it to be dyed in rubber bands. I found this chart that tells you how to fold to get a desired look. I'm not too fancy and always default to the spiral technique, it's the very traditional look when you see tie-dyed shirts.
2. Next step is dying your rubber banded "something white" . I recommend doing it outside but this time some friends and I did it inside. What we did was lay down newspaper then cut up plastic trash bags over the newspaper.
Tie-dying with friends is so much fun!
3. Make sure you use gloves or you'll end up dying your hands, the dye will stay for 1-2 days so it's not the end of the world but you'll get some strange looks and people might think you have a disease.
I like to think this looks like the happiest murder scene, a rainbow massacre if you will!
4. After you sufficiently soaked your cloth in dye the next step is to put it in a plastic bag to dry. They don't have to dry completely when you take your cloth out of the bag and rubber bands just make sure you have somewhere to let it dry where you won't be upset if it gets a wee bit stained.

Here is our finished project! Don't they look lovely?

Well that was a ton of fun. I should have said the first step to tie-dying is finding a group of friends to do it with! This was my first time doing a tie-dye indoors and it went off without a hitch! I'm sure Miss Mel and I will be doing a fun tie-dying project this summer. What kind of fun different things have you tie-dyed? We'd love to know!

Yikes! A Packing Dilema!

Every time I try to go on a trip whether it be a weekend, a week or a month, I always, always, always over-pack. Seriously. I don't know what my problem is! I guess I just feel like I need to have all my possessions with me at all times...which is crazy.

As well as over-packing, the night before I go on any trip I always have a packing dilemma and a packing dream. Once I dreamed that all I packed was shorts or I forgot to pack any shoes, you get the idea. Obviously, packing and I do not get along. This must change! I found these tips that I'm going to try out the next time I go somewhere and I thought I would share with all of our lovely readers!

This chart is amazing! It looks so simple to follow!

Following an outfit guideline

Hopefully, by following these guidelines I will not have a packing dilemma next time!

Do or Don't: Instagram

I have a serious app love for Instagram. I probably use it more in a weekly basis than I should admit but it's just so easy and, best part, free! So to break it down for you Instagram works with the camera on your phone or lets you crop pictures you have in you camera album.

They have a ton of filters you can add to your pictures to give them a fun new edge or vibe.

They allow you to give borders to your pictures.

You can even make your pictures black and white. Miss Mel and I love this picture!

Here's some from the past week!

The other part to Instagram is that you can see everyone's pictures! It reminds me of Twitter in that you can follow virtually anyone who has a Instagram account and it also reminds me of Facebook in that you can "like" and comment on other peoples pictures.

But really the best part as I've already mentioned is that it's FREE

DIY: Jewerly Organization

I had a slight incident this weekend when I was trying to get ready. I attempted to get a necklace out of this tangled mess in a heap I keep in my top drawer when I realized that my jewelry organization was kind of a joke.
Something had to be done!
So, as any do-it-yourself type of person I was determined to find a cool, pretty way to organize my jewelry and I figured it out! On a trip to Hobby Lobby I discovered these beautiful blue boards with knobs on them.

I placed them in my closet and hung my jewelry on them.
Viola! Intense jewelry organization!

Now, all of my large necklaces are on display and easy to access!

DIY: Scrapbook Paper iPhone Case

Hey everyone I hope you had a great weekend! I know I did, it was spent crafting! Some projects including gifts for our very  own Miss Mel, she's dying to know what I'm made but her birthday isn't for almost another month. I'll be sharing those later but I can share with you something I was talking about just last week. I found the idea for using scrapbook paper and clear iPhone cases on Pinterest and loved it! I decided it had to be done and here's how:

Supplies:
Scrapbook paper
Scissors and exacto knife
Thick construction paper

1. First I traced my phone shape on thick construction paper for a template I could use for the real ones. I put the template inside the clear case so I could trace the hole for the camera.
2. I used the template and traced on the backside of the scrapbook paper making sure to put the hole on the  right side. Next step is to just cut them out!
3. Here are the cut-out products!

I am in love with this idea and can't wait to make more! It was super easy and inexpensive. You should definitely try it out if you're like me and can't make a decision to save your life. Hope you guys enjoyed this and have a great week!

Hair Lust

My hair is getting longer and longer and longer and longer...okay, okay, you get the gist.
However, because of this I'm getting a little stir crazy. I feel like I need to do something drastic to it but I know the second I do, I'll be mad I did.
Anyone else feel this way about their hair?
For now, I shall just scour Pinterst for pictures of hair cuts and hair styles that perhaps, someday, I will have!

Super cute fishtail braid and flower headband.

Blunt bangs

Super long wavy hair

Long hair and a cute scarf

Topped off with a big bow

Giant hair bow

Loose side-braid

Wrap-around braided headband

Last but not least, our friend Ellen found this video tutorial on how to braid your hair like Katniss in The Hunger Games movie!

PostalPix

I recently discovered this app for my iPhone (soon coming to the Android market) called PostalPix. It allows you to get prints of the pictures you have on your phone. I've been faced with this very dilemma many a time. You have these pictures that you'd like to frame or scrapbook or whatever but you have no easy way of getting them into a tangible copy. Well this app takes all the hassle away! You just download this free app and pick the pictures you want, what size and how many. Best part is you don't have to worry about picking them up somewhere, they'll mail it to you.

For my first try I got a few pictures of Sass in the 4X4 square option and they turned out beautiful! Not sure what I'll use them for just yet but you guys will be the first to know when I craft them into something hopefully beautiful!

I'll definitely be using this again for another batch of "hard" copies from my phone! One option I'll be trying next time is the aluminum infusion. I recommend trying it out if you have an iPhone or keeping an eye out for it in the Android Market!

The Color Run

Have you guys heard about this awesome 5K run?
Miss Heather, my mom and I are going to participate in this 5K this summer in Louisville, Kentucky.
I can't wait! It looks like so much fun!

 The Color Run informational video

I don't know why but I always seem to enjoy running when there's some sort of fun aspect to it, like dressing up like a pumpkin or Santa Claus or being drenched from head-to-toe with hundreds of colors!

What do you think?
Would you want to participate in something like this?

iPhone Cases!

So I just recently bought the new iPhone 4S and couldn't be more thrilled! I ordered it online and now have the grueling process of obsessively tracking it as it makes its way to my home. So to distract myself I have started hunting for cute cases to adorn my soon to be new phone. Let me tell you there are a ton of cases to pick from, which in my indecisive case can be quite painful, but I'll do my best to find the best ones!

This one is pretty cool, it's activated by your touch!

I like this wooden one because it looks like a camera!

Miss Mel actually owns this one! Isn't it cute?

I can't help but love anything with polka dots... or anything that is Kate Spade.

I actually found this tip on Pinterest. Get a clear case for the iPhone and then cut out scrapbook paper for your background. This way you can have a different one for every day and it's very inexpensive.

Okay well this honestly hasn't helped me too much because I now have to make decision. They're all so cute, I just want them all! Maybe I'll try out that scrapbook paper idea so I don't really have to make a decision, until deciding what paper to use. Ah I just can't win! What kind of cases do you guys like?
