The Civil Wars are a band made up of two singer-songwriters, Joy Williams and John Paul White. The best way I've heard them described is when I read the following quote I found on Youtube under the comments of their NPR Tiny Desk Concert performance;
"Alabama boy meets California girl. They share a killer harmony, a deadly
romantic chemistry, and a destructive love of folk. It's like
something out of a damn book."
