Are you getting in the Christmas spirit yet?

4. Count down the days until Christmas.
5. Bake hundreds of these cookies.
6. Serve bourbon infused sugar cranberries to our friends.
7. Turn the fridge into Frosty the Snowman.
8. Display our holiday cards for all to see.
9. Give our friends a sweet little present.
10. Host a fancy holiday party

DIY: Glitter Mason Jars

I'm excited to share with you another fabulous DIY project perfect for the holidays!
My mom and I created these Glitter Mason Jars last week and they add such a festive spirit to our house!

Here's how to make your own.

Step One
Gather supplies.
You'll need a jar of ModPodge, Mason Jars (I got a set of 12 for under $10 at WalMart), Paintbrush, Ribbon, Glitter in various colors, Shoe Box,Tea Light Candles and a Matte Top-Coat Spray.

Step Two
Take your paintbrush and coat your mason jar, minus the rim, with ModPodge.

Step Three
Choose a glitter color and shake over the mason jar.
I did this step over a shoe box to conserve glitter and not make a mess.

Step Four
Shake off any excess glitter and set your mason jar aside to dry.

Step Five
After about 15 minutes, spray your mason jar with the matte top-coat spray.
I would suggest doing this in a well ventilated area or outside.
This prevents the glitter from falling off!

Step Six
Tie your ribbon around the rim and you're done!

Have fun crafting!

Our Favorite Turkey Day Eats!

Since the basic idea behind Thanksgiving is eating, Miss Mel and I thought we would share some our favorite recipes. These are some things we look forward to all year round!

Thanksgiving

Green Bean Casserole  is my most absolute favorite!

Potato Casserole with Corn Flakes is always delicious.

Sweet Potato Casserole makes my Thanksgiving.

I eat about a thousand Pillsbury Crescent Rolls

Of course Pumpkin Pie makes our list!

I can't wait for these delicious things to be in my belly! I think a quick apology to my waistline is in order because lets face it I won't be holding back on those seconds.

Style Icon: The Women of "Mad Men"

This past week, I started watching the beloved show Mad Men and I finally understand what all the hype is about. Not only is the show intriguing, it opens your eyes to a time period that we are obsessed with, the beginning of the 1960s. Everyone's smoking, drinking at noon and dressed to the nine's at all times. Truthfully, part of me wishes that everyone still dressed this way. It would definitely bring an certain air of drama to everyday life!

Below are some of my favorite looks the leading ladies of Mad Men have worn.
Starring; January Jones as Betty Draper, Christina Hendricks as Joan Harris, Elisabeth Moss as Peggy Olson and Alison Brie as Trudy Campbell.

"Betty and Don Draper"
The epitome of class, Betty Draper always looks gorgeous.

"Joan Harris"
I love that Joan flaunts her curves and has every man in that office wrapped around her little finger.

Peggy Olsen, my new hero.
"Peggy Olsen"
She is unspoken hero of this show and does it all in modest, collared shirts, flippy skirts and let's not forget those high ponytails and bangs.

"Trudy Campbell"
I want this dress! You can always count on Trudy to be matching her lipstick to her handbag.

Do you watch Mad Men? Who's style do you love the most?

DIY: Chalkboard Tray

Another chalkboard craft! The possibilities are endless!
Today, I'm going to share how to make your very own chalkboard tray. I saw this idea on Pinterest and I thought it was genius! I want to use mine for arranging various types of cheese and using the chalk to label them. Perfect for parties!

Supplies
Wooden, Plastic, Metal Serving Tray
(I found mine at Hobby Lobby for $3)
Chalkboard Spray Paint
Paintbrush
Painter's Tape
Your Choice of Paint Color
Paper Towel/Newspaper

Step One
Line the tray with the painter's tape to prevent the sides from being sprayed with chalkboard paint.

Step Two
Go outside or in a well-ventilated area and spray the base of your tray with 2-3 coats of chalkboard paint. Don't worry if you got a little chalkboard paint on your tray, I covered it up with the paint.

Step Three
Paint the remainder of your tray with the color of your choice, let it dry and then you're done!

Have fun crafting!

Surprise!

This past Saturday, Tom and I decided to make the drive down to Springfield, MO to surprise Miss Heather and it actually worked! I am terrible at keeping secrets so I've never been able to successfully surprise anyone. I have a "lie laugh" and it just gives all of my secret plotting away! We stopped in at her work and she paused, looked confused and then put it all together. Victory! We spent the whole day browsing vintage stores like "Red Velvet", getting yummy cupcakes, causing chaos wherever we went, putting Sass into boots and topped it all off with a sushi dinner!

Miss Heather and Sass in Boots, Tom and Miss Heather at "The Cup" and Miss Heather being a creep while I try on this gown at "Red Velvet".

I miss her already!

Do or Don't: Animal Print

So I personally think animal print is making an awesome comeback. I think it got a bad rep back in the nineties, like most fashion choices, as trashy and sleezy. Don't get me wrong it can still be pretty trashy but when executed correctly it can be pretty cute!

I mean I think I NEED these.

This zebra blazer is pretty bitchin'

I think this clutch is a must have!

One time our friend, Ellen, went shopping with Miss Mel and claims she was coerced into buying snake skin pants but I mean they're pretty awesome. Miss Mel and I are firm believers that animal print can be classy when done correctly. Obviously we love animal print, what do you guys think?

DIY: Cinnamon Stick Votive

Have you thought of any DIY gifts for this holiday season yet?
Well here's one that takes less than 10 minutes to do, looks festive and smells like Christmas.
Sounds like the best craft ever!

Below are my steps on how to make your own Cinnamon Stick Votive.
Supplies
Hot Glue Gun
Small Glass Candle Votive
Tea light Candles
Cinnamon Sticks
*Tip* I found huge containers of cinnamon sticks at a global food store for less than $6!
Rubber Bands
1-2 Bundles of Raffia

Step One
Grab a votive and a rubber band and wrap the rubber band around once.
Don't worry that it's loose because the cinnamon sticks you put in will make it tighter.

Step Two
Begin placing cinnamon sticks in-between the rubber band and the votive.

Continue this until cinnamon sticks are completely around the glass.

Step Three
Using your hot glue gun, place a thin line of glue onto of the rubber band and begin to attach the raffia. The raffia should cover up the rubber band.

Step Four
Once you've gone all around the votive, take your ends and make a double knot.

*You might have to use your hot glue gun to make sure the ends don't stick out. *

Step Five
Cut the ends of your raffia to your desired length and place a tea light inside the votive.

Step Six
Display your work!
Don't they look awesome? Get ready friends because I know I'll be handing these out at Christmas.

Have fun crafting!

Crocheting

This weekend I took one step closer to becoming an old cat lady. I decided to learn how to crochet. Years ago Miss Mel had taught me to knit and now I've decided to take the next step. The worst part is I've become obsessed, but seriously. I'm studying and think "I could be crocheting while I do this" or catching up on all the Revenge episodes I've missed and find my hands are missing the feel of yarn. *Some might say I'm the coolest girl around.*

I can see this being me in a few short months. No lie.

Also I hope my friends are ready for some kick ass homemade scarves for Christmas because let's face it scarves are about as advanced I'll get by then. Do you guys knit or crochet? Don't you love it?!.... Or is just me?

Election Day!

Today is election day!
Are you going to vote?
This is my first time going to a polling place and voting!
*The last election I had to to an absentee ballet and that definitely was not very exciting. *
Whatever your political beliefs, Miss Heather and I hope that if you are 18 and over that you will participate in this election!

Your vote does matter!

Style Icon: Ashley Madekwe

It's been a while since we've done a Style Icon post and I'm excited to share our latest one!

For those who watch ABC's "Revenge", you are already familiar with Ashley Madekwe's killer style. Though she's playing a character on television, Ashley's sense of style translates throughout the show and into her street style. I would have to say that she is definitely the best-dressed person on that show and out of all the beautiful people and clothes, that's saying something!
She even has a top fashion blog called, "Ring My Bell", where she shares outfits and inspirations.
I know I'm a frequent reader!
Her style is essentially Top-Shop's look-book (a.k.a. my dream wardrobe) and she manages to stay on trend without over-doing it.

Below are some of my favorite outfits of Ashley's:

Leather + Chambray Shirt= Love
Great mixture of textures.

Kitty Cat Shirt, high-waisted shorts and clunky leopard heels.

Mustard skirt, enough said.

Love the sequined collar and shoulders!

Pretty bow.

Love this dress.

Also, Starbucks came out with their red cups this week!
Yay! It's it too early to start listening to Christmas music?
