"The Carrie Diaries"

 

Have you been watching the new CW show The Carrie Diaries?

I will admit that I feel a little too old to be watching the show but since I loved Sex and the City I decided to give a try and it's actually a pretty entertaining show.  For those who don't know what The Carries Diaries is about, it's supposed to be a prequel to Sex and the City focused on Carrie Bradshaw as a junior in high school. 

 It stars AnnaSophia Robb (Soul Surfer, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Bridge to Terabithia) as a convincing younger Carrie Bradshaw and relative newcomer Austin Butler (Switched at Birth, Life Unexpected) as hottie/badboy Sebastian Kydd.

 

 It's the beginning of Carrie Bradshaw's love affair with New York, fashion and guys.

If you're interested in watching The Carrie Diaries, you've only missed three episodes which are streaming online for free!

The Carrie Diaries is on every Monday night at 8/7c on The CW Network.

"Downton Abbey"

So I know I'm little late jumping on the "Downton Abbey bandwagon". Until now, I always thought it was Downtown Abbey...however, I've recently become addicted to the show! I'm almost finished with the first season on Netflix and I started last week! Did I mention that I'm obsessed?

For those of you who are unfamiliar with "Downton Abbey" (it's not to late to start watching, look at me!), it's a drama on PBS as one of their Masterpiece Classic shows. The show is set during the 1900's in a fictional town in England revolving around one aristocratic family and their servants.  "Downton" is filled with your typical drama schemes as well as, historical events like the sinking of the Titanic, the beginning of WWI and the Spanish influenza. As if that isn't enough to make you hooked, the clothes the characters wear are simply magnificent. It's truly incredible to see the Grantham family dress in black suits, bow-ties, hair pieces, hats, jewelry and ballroom gowns for a family dinner. A family dinner! You can only imagine what they wear to formal events!

"Nashville"

Have you guys heard of the new ABC show "Nashville"? I've seen countless billboards, commercials and very advertisements trying to get fans to support their new drama. Well, it worked for me!

 

 

 The television drama revolves around a country music iconic facing being upstaged by a younger, country-pop singer. Think, "Country Strong" but as a television show. It stars Connie Britton from "Friday Night Lights" (another one of my favorite television shows) and "American Horror Story", Hayden Panettiere from "Heroes",Powers Boothe from "24" and Charles Esten from "Big Love".   

 

"Nashville" premieres tonight on ABC at 10/9c.

Fall Television Preview

Since Labor Day has come and gone,
I think it's safe to start getting excited for television again!

I always look forward to the fall television premiere because it means old favorites are returning and you have a slew of new shows to choose from!

I thought I would share with you some of my most-watched television shows and what I'm looking forward to watching this fall!

1) "Revenge"

Returning for it's second season on ABC, "Revenge" revolves around a twenty-something girl, Emily Thorne, who returns to her home in the Hamptons seeking revenge on an all-powerful family, The Graysons. The twist is, no one recognizes Emily (many years have gone by so it's believable) and no one suspects she's the one behind all the destruction. Of course, there is a love-triangle, well multiple ones, actually, and it's definitely a show that you can't stop watching!

The second season of "Revenge" premieres on ABC on Sunday, September 30 at 9/8c.

2) "The Vampire Diaries"

Now, I understand this show can be a little cheesy but it doesn't make it any less addictive. Think, "True Blood" but for teenagers. I have been a fan of this show from the start and it doesn't hurt that the two main male leads are really, really, hot.
The plot includes two vampire brothers fighting over the same human girl. There are witches, werewolves, more vampires and even a doppelganger. I couldn't even begin to sum up what crazy plot lines they have come up with these past three seasons BUT they are available on Netflix so get caught up before season four!

"The Vampire Diaries" premieres on the CW on Thursday, October 11 at 8/7c.


3) "The Walking Dead"

One word, zombies. Zombies. Zombies. Zombies.
AMC's "The Walking Dead" is returning for it's third season and it just keeps getting better and better. Last season, left audiences with a crazy cliff-hanger, hooded machete-wielding, zombie slaver anyone?
I'm super curious to see what's going to happen with Rick and the rest of the gang. I hope they all survive and don't turn into zombies...yeah, wishful thinking in this show.

"The Walking Dead" will return to AMC on Sunday, October 14 at 9/8c.

4) "Nashville"

A new show with Connie Britton=yay! "Nashville" is a little reminiscent of the movie "Country Strong" with it's story line revolving around a legendary country singer who is facing being upstaged by a younger, country/pop singer, who just happens to be Hayden Panettiere. I have really high hopes for this show since the trailers look amazing and it has the talent to make it an awesome drama.

"Nashville" premieres on ABC on Wednesday, October 10 at 10/9c.

5) "The Carrie Diaries"

A new show on the CW promises to be the "Sex and the City" for younger audiences and it should be, since after all, it's based on the books by Candance Bushnell, author of "Sex and the City".
"The Carrie Diaries" takes its audience back to the '80s to see Carrie Bradshaw as a teenager. Now, I'm sure it won't be as risque as "Sex and the City" was since it's for teens and on the CW but, I'm hoping it will be just as entertaining as watching Sarah Jessica Parker and the girls on SATC.

"The Carrie Diaries" premieres on the CW this fall.

New Girl!

So I know I've already talked about my serious love for Zooey Deschanel but this time I'm going to share my other serious love for her new show titled New Girl. For those of you who watch it know how great it is and for those of you who don't, well you should be watching.

Okay I'll lay down the basic plot for you guys. After a bad breakup, Jess (Deschanel), an off beat girl, moves in with three single guys she's never met. The show follows her getting to know her roommates and them getting to know all of her many many quirks. The best part is that they know shes bonkers crazy but they still support her and love her. It's basically one of the funniest shows I've seen in awhile. One of my favorite new shows this year!

Describing it doesn't do it justice, you'd just have to watch it! Which I strongly suggest!

Our Love for Gilmore Girls

Miss Heather and I have a serious, serious love for the television series, "Gilmore Girls". 

Even though it's not the air anymore *moment of silence*, we still religiously watch it. 

For those of you who don't know what "Gilmore Girls" is or what it's about, first let me say, shame on you! and second, I'll tell you! 

"Gilmore Girls" is a television show revolving around a single mother and her relationship with her daughter. The show is filled with quirky characters and a town you wish you lived in.  

With it's dual-character settings, Rory the teenager in high-school and her mom, Lorelai, the thirty-something year old trying to find her own way, it's perfect show for teenagers and adults alike.

"Gilmore Girls" has an award-winning cast featuring; Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Keiko Agena,

Kelly Bishop, Edward Herrmann, Melissa McCarthy, Jared Padalecki, Scott Patterson and Milo Ventimiglia.

Through the seven seasons you find yourself; falling in love for the first time with Rory and Dean, navigating your own path in life with Lorelai, at Luke's diner, attending a Friday night dinner with Richard and Emily, wearing that Chilton uniform, wanting your mom to be your best friend, going to the Firelight festival, trying to stay as far away as possible from the crazed Paris Geller, wanting to taste Sookie's food, walking through the halls of Yale, fearing the wrath of Mrs. Kim, messing with Taylor Doose, dating the ultimate bad-boy Jess and most of all, rooting for Lorelai and Luke to fall in love.

I have all of the seasons on DVD and we have probably seen every episode at least ten *or 100000* times.
We each have our favorite episodes, "Nick and Nora/Sid and Nancy," "A-Tisket, A-Tasket," "They Shoot Gilmores, Don't They?" and "Raincoats and Recipes" to name a few.
