Weekend! I missed you.

This week has been super stressful! This semester is quickly coming to an end so (of course) all the work is being piled on now. It's hard to keep afloat! That's why I'm glad it's the weekend to rest up and actually have a little fun!

Picture quote of the week.

I got super excited when I found "The Hunger Games" printable book marks!
p.s. did i mention that i'm a huge dork?

I found this DIY craft that I thought was sweet. You write down whenever something memorable happens and place it into a mason jar to keep and re-read throughout the year. I think I'm going to attempt to do this!

Oh boy, my favorite Real Housewives of New Jersey are back and sh*t just got crazy.

Have fun this weekend!

DIY: Easter Door!

Hey guys Easter is less than two weeks away and that means it's time for a new door decoration! Not going to lie I seriously debated just putting up cute pictures of little Sass on the door. I mean she's a bunny, that falls under Easter decorations, right? Instead I opted for something more traditional.
Here it is:

I just love decorating for the holidays! Even though I'm twenty-two years old, I love me some Easter Egg Hunts! What's you're favorite thing about Easter?

Travel Fantasy

Having a Pinterest account has only added to my lust for travel. Everyday I see more and more pictures of beautiful places I would want to go! *This is not good for my bank account* However, this is good for you because I thought I would share some of these far-off places.
Just try not to search for flights on Expedia, seriously, it's almost impossible.

First up is St Croix Lake, Les Gorges du Verdon in Provence, France.
Doesn't that look like a dream?

Next is this insane house on this island in Iceland.
How crazy would this be! Would you want to stay there all by yourself?

Then there is this "Forest House" right out of a fairy tale in Efteling, Holland.

Lastly, I just want to frolic in this green pasture in Wales, UK.

Where is the most interesting place you have ever been? Do you have a travel fantasy?

Do or Don't: The Romper

I, Miss Heather, have always been a huge fan of the romper. I don't care what they look like on me, I just think that if I have enough confidence I will pull them off. I understand that not all people are fan but I'm a firm believer in feeling they just haven't found one to match their body type, they haven''t found "the one". Even Miss Mel was a victim of romper hating (she claimed they didn't look good on her). That is until she finally found a beautiful BCBG romper that she is now obsessed with and will find any occasion to wear it to, one being my birthday.
She became a believer!

For those of you who don't know what a romper is, I will show you what they are.
My best description would have to be they are shorts with cloth attached to cover up your torso or the top half of the body. Okay not the best description but they come in all shapes and sizes so one definition won't work, I'd rather show you!
Here is Miss Mel in her beautiful BCBG romper.
I'm totally digging the see-through ribs on the right one!
American Apparel has a really simple romper style that I totally love! I wouldn't mind adding the tri-indigo to my romper collection.
They also come in strapless!

I don't believe my vast collection of rompers actually includes a strapless one! I'll probably have to get one before summer roles around! Are you guys a fan of the romper? Let us know!

"The Hunger Games"

I saw "The Hunger Games" movie last night and it blew my mind. It was amazing and it made me want to watch it again and again as well as, re-read the whole series.

If you haven't heard of "The Hunger Games" (books or film) then I can only assume you haven't been exposed to any form of pop culture (except for this blog).  Seriously, you have GOT to get out more!

Jennifer Lawerence as Katiness Everdeen.

"The Hunger Games" is a book series (three books in total) written by Suzanne Collins revolving around a sixteen year old girl growing up in a futuristic world where children ages 12-18 are chosen each year to compete in a fight to the death while everyone else watches. I like to describe it as a mixture between "The Truman Show" and "Gladiator". I know it sounds gory and I can't believe these books are intended for 13 year old girls, especially because I know how many people my age love these books, but they are super addicting and fun reads. That's why I was so glad when the movie version (out this past Friday starring Jennifer Lawerence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth) stuck with the book and really brought the excitement to the full screen. I was on the edge of my seat the entire movie!
Jennifer Lawerence as Katiness Everdeen and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark.

I HIGHLY recommend reading the book series and going to see the movie in theaters now!

Have a fun weekend!

What are you doing this weekend? Miss Mel is headed to Chicago to be reunited with some friends and Miss Heather will be coming home from camping and going to a wedding! Craziness!

Picture quote of the week.

Been wearing my hair in milkmaid braids this week thanks to Miss Heather.

Sass is staying with me this week and I seriously can not get enough of her sweet bunny-ness.

Are you going to see The Hunger Games this weekend? I'm planning on going this Sunday night and I can't wait!

I'm feeling very desperate...

Because, one of my favorite television shows, "Desperate Housewives", will be going off the air in just a few more episodes! I'm already feeling depressed. Who is going to entertain me on Sunday nights?!
Pass the ice cream and grab your Kleenex because this farewell is going to be a tearjerker.
*spoiler alert! did anyone else bawl their eyes out at Mike's death and funeral?! still can't believe it!*

On the air for eight seasons on ABC and starring Terri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria and created by Marc Cherry, "Desperate Housewives" is a drama revolving around four women and the crazy sh*t that goes down in their neighborhood on Wisteria Lane.
Literally, every possible scenario has occurred on "Desperate Housewives". From suicides to murder, to cheating and divorce, to having affairs with younger men and poisoning husbands, to running over mother-in-laws and having ones move in with you, to dealing with stalkers and mysterious letters, and, on top of all that, they're pretty funny too!
This show has deffinitly been a guilty pleasure of mine and at least I can continue watching on Netflix!

"Say farewell to your favorite housewives on Sunday nights on ABC."

p.s. The opening quote that started it all,
"My name is Mary Alice Young. When you read this morning's paper you may come across an article about the unusual day I had last week. Normally there is never anything newsworthy about my life, but that all changed last Thursday. Of course everything seemed quite normal at first. I made breakfast for my family, I performed my chores, I completed my projects, I ran my errands. In truth, I spent the day as I spent every other day, quietly polishing the routine of my life, until it gleamed with perfection. That's why it was so astonishing when I decided to go to my hallway closet and retrieve a revolver that had never been used."-Mary Alice

DIY: The Fascinator

For Miss Heather's 22nd birthday last month, our good friend, Ellen, and I decided to make a little something special for everyone. So, of course, we made fascinators!
Kate Middleton wearing a pretty feather fascinator.

A fascinator is a fancy headpiece that the British typically wear to fancy and/or formal events.
Follow the steps below to make your own fascinator to add a little pizazz to your outfit as well as ensuring your group will be seen!

Supplies
*You don't have to use every item on this list, these are just some suggestions!*
Shoulder pads or  removable swimsuit pads
Fabric of your choosing
Hot glue gun and glue
Wire
Ribbon
Bows
Flowers
Small wooden animals
Feathers
Hair combs and/or alligator clips
Tulle
Headbands
Beads
Ornaments
Whatever you want to use to decorate your fascinator!
Here is all the supplies we used + my cat, Winnie.
*Keep in mind that this is a time consuming craft that takes A LOT of creativity!*
Step One: Take your shoulder pad or swimsuit pad and choose what you will use to decorate.
Step Two: Cut the fabric so it will successfully cover the shoulder pad or swimsuit pad so you can't tell what's underneath.
Step Three: Use the hot glue gun to glue down your fabric underneath (meaning, the glue won't be seen when it's on your head).
Step Four: Take the items you chose to decorate your fascinator and use the hot glue gun to place them on your fabric covered shoulder pad.
Step Five: Flip your fascinator facing down and take a hair comb or muitlple alligator clips and hot glue them on the fascinator in the direction you desire.
Step Six: Rock your fascinator!

Below are some pictures of the fascinator's we made!
The fabric and headband we
used to create Miss Heather's
bow-crown.

Ellen wearing the completed bow-crown.
We wrapped the headband with the blue-glitter fabric and hot glued it down.
Then we used a wirey, silver ribbon to create the giant bow.
Lastly, we positioned the bow and took a strip of the fabric and hot glued it around the bow and down on the headband.

Ellen using red-glitter fabric to create her heart shaped fascinator.
A fascinator we made using purple-glitter fabric, white tulle and a gold bead.
Lastly, *because I am insane* I decided it would be fun/good idea/practical to recreate the fascinator Princess Beatrice wore to the Royal Wedding.
Princess Beatrice wearing her jaw-dropping fascinator at the Royal Wedding last April.

As you can see, this was not a easy task we were taking on but thanks to Ellen, we did it!
We took a styrofoam ring and shaved it down.
Then we covered it with gold fabric and used buckets of hot glue to secure it.
Then we took aluminum tape, placed two pieces of wire on the sides and
hot glued the whole thing with the gold fabric.
These were used to create the bow as well as the strands coming off of it.

The last step was to cover a shoulder pad with the gold fabric and
secure the ring onto it. This is where it got a little complicated.
Ellen had to wrap wire around and through the styrofoam ring and
hot glue it all together. Then cover the wire with a piece of gold fabric.
To place it on my head, we used two alligator clips that we hot glued underneath.
Miss Mel wearing the finished product!

Here are some photos of the group wearing their fascinators!

one with gold fabric and feathers.

Have fun crafting and spread the trend!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
What are your plans for this festive weekend? Miss Heather and I will be reuniting with all our friends for some crazy, green-themed, good ol'fashioned Irish celebrating!

I'm digging this rose gold bracelet and watch mix-and-match.

Tom shared this site with me featuring Black Milk Clothing and I'm obsessed.

Miss Heather and I almost peed our pants because we were laughing so hard at this video by Jenna Marbles.

I want a pair of Frye cowboy boots like these puppies.

How to make green beer.

This linked heart necklace is adorable.

If you're anything like Miss Mel and I and love a good crafting sale you should check out The Plaid Barn, they have awesome daily sales on crafting supplies.

Have fun and be safe this weekend!

Our Love for Gilmore Girls

Miss Heather and I have a serious, serious love for the television series, "Gilmore Girls".
Even though it's not the air anymore *moment of silence*, we still religiously watch it.

For those of you who don't know what "Gilmore Girls" is or what it's about, first let me say, shame on you! and second, I'll tell you!
"Gilmore Girls" is a television show revolving around a single mother and her relationship with her daughter. The show is filled with quirky characters and a town you wish you lived in.
With it's dual-character settings, Rory the teenager in high-school and her mom, Lorelai, the thirty-something year old trying to find her own way, it's perfect show for teenagers and adults alike.

The cast of "Gilmore Girls".
"Gilmore Girls" has an award-winning cast featuring; Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Keiko Agena,

Kelly Bishop, Edward Herrmann, Melissa McCarthy, Jared Padalecki, Scott Patterson and Milo Ventimiglia.
Through the seven seasons you find yourself; falling in love for the first time with Rory and Dean, navigating your own path in life with Lorelai, at Luke's diner, attending a Friday night dinner with Richard and Emily, wearing that Chilton uniform, wanting your mom to be your best friend, going to the Firelight festival, trying to stay as far away as possible from the crazed Paris Geller, wanting to taste Sookie's food, walking through the halls of Yale, fearing the wrath of Mrs. Kim, messing with Taylor Doose, dating the ultimate bad-boy Jess and most of all, rooting for Lorelai and Luke to fall in love.

I found this fan-made video on YouTube.
Click to watch: Lorelai and Rory Through-Out the Years

I have all of the seasons on DVD and we have probably seen every episode at least ten *or 100000* times.
We each have our favorite episodes, "Nick and Nora/Sid and Nancy," "A-Tisket, A-Tasket," "They Shoot Gilmores, Don't They?" and "Raincoats and Recipes" to name a few.
A scene from "The Shoot Gilmores, Don't They?"

We hope you'll be a fan of "Gilmore Girls" the way we are!
Seriously, you won't regret it!

p.s. My mom just recently got into watching "Gilmore Girls" and now she's obsessed! We watch at least five episodes a week!

Sass!

As we've mentioned before Miss Mel and I are the proud mommies of a bunny named Sass. We basically love her to death and can't get enough of her fluffy self. Well this week has been a crazy week. Technically it should be winter but right now Missouri has had some of the nicest weather with temperatures in the seventies and eighties. So I've basically spent every free minute outside and decided to introduce our little bun to nature. I realize bunnies come from the outdoors but we got her at a pet store so the likliehood of her having been outside is slim to none. Along with being obsessed with Sass, I am obsessed with taking pictures of her. I decided to share with you guys Sass's first trip outside!

Sass absolutely loved it! I mean I guess technically don't know if she liked it but by the amount of grass, weeds and flowers that she devoured I'm sure she was enjoying herself!

Clearly this one isn't of her adventures outside but its just a cute one I thought I'd share with you guys. Hope your day just got a little better from the bunny cuteness!
