DIY: Peter Pan Collar

So I finally completed a craft I've been wanting to do for a while, create my own peter pan collar!

I got the idea to make my own after seeing one for $70 at TopShop. I thought to myself, "I could totally make that" and so I did!

Supplies

(all purchased at JoAnn's Fabrics)
1 Piece of Cream Colored Felt
3/4 of a yard of Cream Colored Lace
Scissors or Exacto-Knife
Rotary Hole-Puncher
Hot Glue Gun
ModPodge or Clear Nail Polish
Needle and Thread
1 Button
Q-Tip
Ribbon

Step One
Find a template online of the shape you desire to make your peter pan collar.
I used this one from the DIY website "Honestly...WTF".

Step Two

Take your template and use it to cut out the felt into the two pieces of the peter pan collar.

Step Three

Grab your lace and your hot glue gun to make fine lines of glue on top of the felt to attach your lace to. A little hint, I used a q-tip to smooth out the hot glue underneath the lace so it wasn't as bulky and I didn't burn my fingers! Then cut off all the extra lace.

Step Four
After your hot glue has dried, take another q-tip and dip it into ModPodge to use along the lace's edge so no fraying occurs. Just spread your Modpodge very lightly along all edges of your collar. You could also use clear nail polish if you don't have any ModPodge!

Step Five
Take the two pieces of your collar and over-lap them slightly. Remember, this has to fit around your neck! Then, find your button, needle and thread and sew your button as well as, the two pieces together.

Step Six

Using your rotary hole-puncher, make one hole at the top of each piece of your collar.

Step Seven
Grab your ribbon and string it through so the knot will not be seen from the front.
Again, this has to fit around your neck so make sure to give yourself plenty of ribbon!

Step Eight
This step is optional, but I took my hot glue gun and went over my sewing and the back of the knots of the ribbon. I thought it would just really hold everything together.

Now, you're ready to wear!

DIY: Cloth Banner

So in an effort to brighten up the very white walls of my apartment I decided to make a cloth banner! I stung up the banner along the upper walls of my living/dining room and they look great! Even better this was a super cheap project!

Supplies:
Cloth
Yarn
Pushpins
Scissors

Step One:
You'll want to cut about 1 inch thick strips between one and two feet long, depending how long you want yours to be. Keep in mind they will be folded in half !

Step Two:
Take two strips and fold them over your yarn in a loose knot. Repeat this until you have enough to fill the wall of room you want to decorate.

Step Three:
Put the pushpins into the wall at about 4-6 feet intervals then string up your banner. Then all that'e left is to enjoy the sight!

I used a color that matched one of the fabric colors but you can always use something pops out. Since this banner is for more "home decor" I chose a neutral color. But this would be great for a party decoration as well! Hope you guys enjoyed this!

DIY: Glitter Shoes

So lately I've been seeing a ton of things about making your own glitter shoes. Obviously I had to try it out for myself and it turned out super easy!

Supplies:
Shoes
Fabric Glue
Glitter
Disposable Paintbrush

Step One:
Take the laces out of the shoes and lay the shoes on top of some newspaper.

Step Two:
Paint the fabric glue on the part of shoes where you want to glitter. Next pour the glitter directly on top of the shoes. Shake off the excess onto the newspaper and you can reuse the glitter.

Step Three:
All that is left is to let the shoes dry and touch up any spots that are missing glitter. Now all you have to do is wear them out!

I can't wait to wear these out! I not usually a glitter person but these shoes just pop now with the glitter addition!

DIY: Beaded Fringe Top

This summer inspired me to make a beaded fringe top.
Ya know, one of those tank tops shredded up at the bottom with beads on it that you can buy at Forever 21 for $15?
Yeah, one of those BUT I made it!

Supplies
A loose tank top
*I used one I already had*
Beads
*I used wooden ones*
Large needle
Scissors

Step One
I took my tank top and my scissors and cut thin strips about 2 inches deep all around my tank top.

Step Two
I selected two wooden beads to string onto each strip. I used my large needle to thread each bead through. Then, I tied a double knot at the end of the strip to prevent the beads from falling off.

Step Three
Repeat step two all throughout the tank top!

Now you are summer concert ready!
Where's a Bonnaroo ticket when you need one?

It's time for the weekend.

What are your plans for this weekend?
I'm headed to our friend's graduation party while Tim is visiting Miss Heather.
I know Miss Heather and I are super excited for next weekend because we will be reunited!
Since Miss Heather and I are HUGE "Harry Potter" fans this ecard is hysterical to us!
Especially because we've said stuff like this before...
I want to make a wine bottle chandelier.

I'm pretty pumped for cooler weather so I can wear this.

The top pinners to follow.

A cool blog I found.

This is piano cover to one our favorite songs right now is ridiculously awesome!

Lastly, are you going to see "The Dark Knight Rises" this weekend?

Do or Don't: The Jean Vest

I must admit that I own a jean vest or a "jest". However, all my friends think I'm crazy for doing so. As our friend, Ellen, once said, "if you wear that jest, I will set you on fire!"
She's kidding. Kinda.
I bought the "jest" at Forever 21 for like $15 after watching this Rihanna video (I know, that's pretty embarrassing of me but if Rihanna can wear it, so can I! Right? Right!) and I am determined to wear it and for it to look awesome! Slight problem thought, I have absolutely no idea how or what to wear it with!

I scoured Pinterest for some inspiration and here's what I found.

With a grey skirt and stripped tank.

With an awesome bag, polka-dot skirt and plain tee.

With white jeans (jean on jean!) and a grey tee.

With a floral skirt and a rocker tee.

With a cute skirt and white top.

With a canvas colored skirt and cropped top.

With a feminine lace skirt and cross-body bag.
This might be my favorite look of them all.

With shorts, an open flannel shirt and a white, cropped top underneath.

With a red skirt and white tank.
So pretty!

And just for fun, an American flag jest.

So what do you think? Is the "jest" a do or a don't?
